6 month check up, eating solids and dinos

Well time flew by and Colton is 6 months! This means 6 month check up appointment. He did NOT like his 2 shots! Last time he only made a little peep and this time he cried as soon as anyone talked to him. Dr. Dina said that it was a good sign, stranger anxiety. He is well aware of his surrounding....um yea, no one can talk to him at the moment. Hope he gets over this before church on Sunday! Colton weighed in at 14 lbs. 14 oz. only 1 pound more than last month. He is 26 3/8 inches long and has a head circumference of 17 inches. Now we get a 3 month break before we go in again. Next time Caden will be going too for his 4yr. check up.

Being 6 months means you get to try some solid foods. We tried oatmeal cereal because it is suppose to be better tasting than rice. He didn't care for it. It went in and it came out! He is getting better though. Last night he had 2 little spoonfuls that went in and I "think" stayed in. We get to start fruits and veggies soon too, so that should be fun-all those new flavors to try.

As for Caden he has decided that "dinos" are his FAVORITE animal. Although if you ask him tomorrow I'm sure it will change. Caden also went for pre-school screening last week. He had fun. He needed a 22 to pass his gross and fine motor skills and speech and he got a 42. I already knew he could throw a ball well.....he does that in the house quite often with another grown up who will remain nameless but knows better:) I also mentioned to him that church now has a program Wednesday nights for his age of kids and he said he wants to go. I think he's ready to venture off and learn new things without me:(

friends, MOPS, MOMS and Hands....

A strange title, I know, but there are many things to write about.

First, I want to say hello to Mrs. Dees! Mrs. Dees commented on the blog a few days ago. She is the mom of my friend, Dayna and was Caden's first baby-sitter (while Dayna and I got some girl time at a movie and dinner or was it going for a walk?) They lived very close to us when we lived in Savage and then we moved to SD and they moved down to Texas to keep warm:) Although I hear that is NOT the case at the moment. Hopefully we will get a chance to see you and catch up this summer when you are here. We miss you guys and our "friends" watching days. We miss you to Dayna!!!

We had MOPS this past Tuesday(I thought we were done until February-good thing I ran into a mom at church otherwise I would have missed it:) Caden loves going to MOPS. His favorite thing is the craft. I love going to catch up with new friends, the wonderful brunch and I, too, love the craft. We made neck warmers with flax seed:)

I hosted our MOMS club baby and expectant mothers playgroup today. We had a great turnout-4 moms and 6 kids. I had brunch and the babies all played", slept and ate:) Caden had fun too. Ella who is 3 came and Olivia is 2-they all played Ellafun. It was cute watching him interact with other kids, laughing and talking.

Colton has found his hands. He has looked at them and used them before but now it is funny because he just stares at them. I remember Caden doing that. It is the cutest thing. He can be in the bassinet, on the floor or in the exersaucer and I catch him staring intently at his hands!

Oh-one last thing..... Caden came running to me the other day and said "Mommy, there is buttons on the TV that turn the channel up and down!" LOL! Who knew??!?!!?!?!?

Funny Faces:Gotta love the big brother....

The other day Caden was entertaining Colton by screaming, jumping up and down and of course making his "signature" funny faces, which can also be turned into a game called "do this." I'll have to have another entry for that later. These are the pictures I got. Colton is just mesmerized by his big brother. No matter how loud Caden gets Colton will sit there and stare at him. The other night at bedtime we were reading a story and Colton sat on my lap and stared at Caden for the whole story. Every once and awhile he would look down at the book but then his eyes would snap back up to his big brother.

We have rollover.....

Yes, he finally did it. Colton finally decided to rollover yesterday. The first time took him by complete surprise and then he did it again. We are so proud of our little laidback guy. He is also sitting up by himself more for longer periods of time-then he reaches for something and there he goes:)

Organizing 2007....

Well everyone wants to get organized right? So this year I will try and organize myself and our home. Last year when the school stuff went on clearance at Target I got the label maker in the picture above. It only took me a little over a year to actually buy the tape that goes into the label maker to make it work:)It took me over a year to buy and only a little over 24 hours for Caden to make it disappear. Boy, does he love to spell-long words. And it doesn't even have to be words, as you can see above. I think he likes to print. I got about 10 labels out of that roll of tape-good thing it came with another roll. With Caden's help we labeled all of his arts supplies-boxes and drawers. Now on to the kitchen....

Favorite Age...Is there one?

Some people have a favorite "child age." I was thinking about this and I can say from a mom's point of view every age seems to be a favorite.

Let's start with the newborn: this little precious innocent miracle is put into your arms, so tiny, yet so amazingly made. As cousin Jordon said about Colton "he's so fragile, like an antique." How true is that? This little new born is fragile and we love him like he's been here forever and is the most precious item we are given from God. And the first time those little eyes meet yours.......unbelievable!

1-3months: the wrinkles are filling up with the wonderful baby fat. Our newborn infant has become a baby. Those moments where your little one can hold eye contact are precious-so innocent. Their little hands start to grab at things and if your lucky you and your little bundle get a full night of sleep.

4-5months-smiles are coming at you left and right-how can this not be a favorite stage? innocent little smiles-the best. And when that first giggle escapes their mouth you want to hear it again and again and again. And if you lucky you might get a rollover. Although Colton doesn't think that is necessary at this time. Caden had this accomplished early in his fourth month. The legs are stronger and all they want to do is pull up and talk to you:)

6-9months-your little one can sit, they are crawling, pulling themselves along anyway they can to get where they want to go.Caden was his chubbiest at this stage-all those little chunky rolls-loved it! New food brings some very cute faces and cute pictures-now how can THIS not be your favorite stage? Well just when you think it is along comes

10-12months-They are on a warpath with the crawling-Caden mastered crawling and walking during this time. Who doesn't love the cute waddle of a first time walker? And all the new stuff they are learning: clapping hands, kneeling, climbing, the just being curious is sooooo adorable-so innocent. Oh yes, we also got the first tooth at 11months-yes we know-late bloomer there:)

1-2 years: Caden loved to play catch. He walked around saying "dada, dada", learned new words everyday it seemed liked. The sound of words coming out of this little body is amazing and funny at times. He'd say something and look at you with those big innocent blue eyes-it overfilled your heart with joy.

3 years: Caden has learned so much in this past year. Our terrible twos were skipped and moved into the terrible 3's-early 3's. He's much better now, although we have a tendency to be very independent which can sometimes be a cover for "very stubborn." The things he is learning amazes me. He loves maps, dinosaurs, cars, sports and games. Oh I cannot forget all the crafts too:) The things that come out of his mouth are too funny. Minnesota has a new state capital: St. Sota. He now knows it's St. Paul but when I was prompting him with the St.......he said St. Sota-funny child. The other night we had a conversation C:mommy do you love me?

M: yes

C: does daddy love me?

M: yes
C:does Colton love me ?

M: yes

C: does God love me ?

M: yes

C:does Jesus love me?

M: yes

C: does baby Moses love me?

M: umm...yes

C: wow that is a whole lot of people!

so back to the age stages, I can say I love every age stage, each has particular moments that I cherish and I look forward to adding the age of 4years in a couple months-what? I'm going to have a 4year old in the house? WOW!

The innocence of a child is what we need to strive to have in our lives.

Brotherly Love.....

This is the picture I got the other day when I was getting ready . I looked in the bedroom and there Caden was cuddling up to Colton. Love this picture. This picture represents how Caden is everyday to Colton-absolute love. I know there will be time when the love won't flow so freely but until then I'm going to cherish every moment. Caden is such a good big brother.
